Program goals:

The goal of the master’s program in financial risk management is to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills necessary for effective management of financial risks of various categories of financial institutions.
The course aims to provide students with comprehensive information on equity, securities, derivative financial instruments markets and instruments, and the construction and optimization of investment portfolios.
In response to the ever-increasing regulatory demands on the financial sector, the course also covers key regulations such as provisions for expected credit losses, liquidity, capital adequacy and investment risks. At the same time, the program aims to develop and improve the student’s critical thinking, problem solving, leadership and management skills, which will effectively prepare them for a successful career in financial risk management, both in local and international markets.

Outcomes

After completing the studies, the student:

  1. Determines the financial resources management policy of organizations and institutions and uses various strategies and tools to mitigate and manage financial risks.

  2. Uses knowledge of the main regulations of the financial sector, which is consistent with the constantly ready control of the financial sector by the regulators.

  3. Evaluates financial processes, uses skills through which he will be able to build and optimize an investment portfolio.

  4. Uses quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills to assess and analyze the sustainable development of the financial sector.

  5. Analyzes the instruments of monetary policy and the results of decisions taken by central banks on financial markets.

  6. Using a programming language, effectively visualizes data using charts and maps.

  7. Independently conducts research using principles and standards of academic integrity and presents research results, findings, arguments and conclusions to both academic and professional communities and stakeholders;

  8. Considers ethical issues arising in the process of financial activity

  9. Shares and appreciates the importance of social responsibility and corporate ethics norms/principles;

  10. Independently determines further learning and development needs

Teaching Process Characteristics:

Students must complete the core subjects of the Master’s program in Financial Risk Management (96 ECTS), which includes the Master’s research paper (30 ECTS), and pass at least one subject (6 ECTS) within the scope of their competences from the mandatory elective block. The remaining credits (18 ECTS) must be earned from the optional subjects within the program.
